Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) substance is a by-product of blood (plasma) that is rich in platelets. PRF, in short, is simply a byproduct of blood. It is exceptionally high in platelets and growth factors, the “signaling” molecules that allow communication between cells. PRF is a tool that significantly improves bone and soft tissue regeneration. Recently, its use has been advocated for regenerative periodontics and wound healing.
Platelet-rich fibrin is the new thing when it comes to surgery, with improved healing and immune support. The operation can have a faster and better recovery, with fewer post-operative complications. The application of platelet-rich fibrin during the implantation process enhanced the stability of the implants. This appears to be a minimally invasive technique with low risk and satisfactory clinical outcomes such as preventing complications or implant failure especially in age-related elderly patients.
Nasolabial cysts, also known as nasoalveolar cysts or Klestadt cysts, are rare non-odontogenic, soft-tissue, developmental cysts occurring inferior to the nasal alar region. Nasolabial cyst is a developmental nonodontogenic type of soft tissue cyst occurring in nasal alar region of midface. Since its original description by Zukerkandl in 1882, nasolabial cyst has been known by other names such as nasovestibular cyst, nasoglobular cyst and nasoalveolar cyst. In 1953, Klestadt studied about nasolabial cysts in depth after which lesion became named Klestadt’s cyst. Thoma suggested the term nasoalveolar cyst, but it was Rao in 1951 that used the term nasolabial cyst.
