The truth about Jesus
(peace be upon him)

Accepting any claim without reflecting and reasoning is not a characteristic of a rational person. Sometimes, a great deal of controversy targets special, gifted, and extraordinary individuals which only indicates their significance and the importance of their various achievements. Such is the case of Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) who was born miraculously, had a remarkable childhood; grew up marvelously, had a blessed mother, and had done amazing miracles and underwent enormous difficulties. Furthermore, his enemies tried to kill him and planned to terminate him, yet he was saved unexpectedly. The story does not end here. He is also expected to return to earth and change the unfortunate events, leading the believers into a manifest victory and a peaceful life.

Muslims claim all what has been mentioned about Jesus (pbuh) since they believe in him and love him, and this belief is fundamental to them. No Muslim is a Muslim if he does not believe in Jesus (pbuh). Still, some people hold false beliefs about Jesus (pbuh). Some reasons behind these wrong beliefs could be:
_ Exaggerated love and appreciation to the extent of worship.
_ Literal translation of some deluding texts which could hold various underlying meanings.
_ Increased alteration and distortion of texts as time went by.
_ Conspiring to dismiss people from the truth in order to achieve personal interests.
_ Arranging councils and conventions in order to agree upon distorting the truth in a way that is satisfactory for the authority and clergymen.
_ The blind imitation and mimicry of the scripts without reflection, critical thinking, and analysis.
_ Arrogance, stubbornness and fear of being accused of altering principles and following a certain group of people.
In fact, there are other reasons which led to such a deviation.

We wait patiently for the return of Prophet Jesus (pbuh) to testify upon mankind and reveal the truth to both: those who believed in it and those who didn’t. For he is the true and exceptional prophet whom Allah blessed with miracles beyond imagination, whereby his birth, escape from danger, and his expected return to Earth. These are all miracles in themselves; the mostly awaited for is that of attaining the truth and terminating falsehood. This is a glorious time of welfare and abundance, of justice and peace. It is the time when all these blessings will take the place of injustice, immorality, conflict and wars. It is surely the blessed time when Islamic morals will penetrate into every aspect of life.
The Qur’an, which is the last revealed book from God, and the holy book of Muslims, testifies that Jesus (pbuh) is a mighty Prophet of God:
And in their footsteps We sent Jesus the son of Mary, confirming the Law that had come before him: We sent him the Gospel: therein was guidance and light, and confirmation of the Law that had come before him: a guidance and an admonition to those who fear Allah. (5:46)

Some of the major miracles that God supported Jesus (pbuh) with are also mentioned in the Qur’an:
Then will Allah say: “O Jesus the son of Mary! recount My favour to thee and to thy mother. Behold! I strengthened thee with the holy spirit, so that thou didst speak to the people in childhood and in maturity. Behold! I taught thee the Book and Wisdom, the Law and the Gospel. And behold! thou makest out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, by My leave, and thou breathest into it, and it becometh a bird by My leave, and thou healest those born blind, and the lepers, by My leave. And behold! thou bringest forth the dead by My leave. And behold! I did restrain the Children of Israel from (violence to) thee when thou didst show them the Clear Signs, and the Unbelievers among them said: `This is nothing but evident magic. (5:110)
And in the Qur’an, God recommends those who have the Bible (the scripture revealed to Jesus (pbuh) from God) to judge according to it:
Let the People of the Injeel judge by what Allah hath revealed therein. If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (no better than) those who rebel. (5:47)
Muslims totally reject the concept of attributing divinity to other than God the Almighty. Anything else than God is a creature, so was Prophet Jesus (pbuh) who totally submitted himself to the will of God and called people to worship God alone and obey Him:
They do blaspheme who say: “Allah is Christ the son of Mary.” But said Christ: “O Children of Israel! Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord.” Whoever joins other gods with Allah, Allah will forbid him the Garden, and the Fire will be his abode. There will for the wrong-doers be no one to help. (5:72)
Muslims also reject the doctrine of trinity which is not only an insult to God, but also an offense to the human intellect, and God calls those who follow such wrong beliefs to repent and seek forgiveness:
They do blaspheme who say: Allah is one of three in a Trinity: for there is no god except One God. If they desist not from their word (of blasphemy), verily a grievous penalty will befall the blasphemers among them. (5:73)
